Artist Goals for 2024

Happy New Year! Today we’re sharing goals and intentions for the new year from some amazing artists around the world.

Thainlin Tay

“To further deepen my exploration and experimentation of art through various mediums and subjects while sharpening my skills and techniques in on-location sketching and painting. I want to continue to coach and share my love for sketching with others so they can enjoy art to the fullest. Lastly, I want to continue to use my art and skills for a good cause, whether to help a charity raise funds or to contribute my time to help those in need.”

Sue Yeon Choi

“My goals for the next year are first to try different mediums more to experiment outside my comfort zone! And secondly, to try a series of sketches with a specific theme, maybe park benches, fountains, or cemeteries. I think it will be fun to “hunt” around for items to go into a series.”

Jess de Jesus

“Finding time to paint and sketch is so important, but as a mom, partner, and business owner, it’s oftentimes not that easy to do! I’ve been fortunate to have had a fulfilling year art-wise, and I look forward to doing even more next year. ⁠

As a landscape artist, my goals for 2024 include allowing for more time to play and experiment with different art media and learning to sketch people with ease and confidence. I love filling up sketchbooks, so this is a great way to do so!”

Gail Wong

“There is a point in your artistic journey where you need to challenge yourself again. After 14 years of focusing on ink and watercolor sketches, I have started to use a new medium. This year, I will focus on working with acrylics and mixed media. Most of it will be studio work and taking classes using acrylics. I will be testing ways to move from representation to semi-abstraction and then to abstraction. Finally, I will see how I can translate working with acrylics and moving toward abstraction back to my watercolor practice. I hope you will follow my Instagram account as I learn how to use a new medium and show the⁠ process.”
